Portugal leads the provisional standings of the Working Equitation World Championship after the opening Dressage day

Jerez de la Frontera, 10 September 2026. The 7th World Championship of Working Equitation continues today, Thursday, at the facilities of the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, after yesterday's opening day of competition with the start of the Dressage phase.

A total of 45 horse-and-rider combinations took to the arena yesterday in a phase that, due to the large number of participants, has been split between Wednesday and Thursday. The remaining competitors will complete the Dressage today before the final standings of this first phase of the Championship are established.

Spanish participation

The Spanish team began its participation yesterday with José Ríos Pascual (Morante), provisionally twelfth, and Joan Crespo Grimalt (Ordoñez 50%), sixteenth.

The competition continues throughout this morning with the second part of the Dressage phase and the participation of the other two members of the Spanish team:

  • 9:30 am — Sebastián López García with Legendario Puli
  • 12:40 pm — Antonio Hernández Santana with Airoso

Once the Dressage is complete, the sporting programme of the World Championship will continue with the following trials, in a competition that combines:

  • Dressage
  • Ease of Handling
  • Speed
  • Cattle Work
